Delta Company at grid location BS591421, observed 5 VC wearing black pj's w/negative weapons or packs. Arty was called in, but results are unknown.

Delta Company spotted 10 VC with black pj's, w/weapons and packs at grid location BS591419 (almost same position  as morning). Atry mission was called but results are unknown.

Alpha Company spotted 3 VC/NVA at grid location BS586 -398, but could not tell if they had weapons or packs-due to the distance. Also spotted 2 hooches and the VC/NVA ran into the hooches. Atry mission was called with negative results.

At grid location BS593412, while on ambush at NDP Delta Company's 1st platoon, 1st squad sprang their ambush and also received small arms fire. Results were; 1 VC/NVA KIA & 1 AK-47 rifle w/pack were captured. There were no US casualties.

Delta Company's 3rd platoon at 0900hrs reports finding

a Bear trap at grid location BS593420. Destroyed in place.

Delta Company's 1st platoon received sniper fire from grid location BS594190 with negative casualties. Arty mission was called in and the results were unknown. FAC (HELIX) was on the station....spotted nothing.

Bravo Company spotted 4 VC crawling up the side of LZ San Juan Hill. M-60 machine gun & M-79 grenade launcher rounds were fired at the VC  1 KIA. Bravo was unable to tell if VC had weapons...will check at first light.

During morning sweep of perimeter on LZ San Juan Hill Bravo Company found 2 VC/NVA bodies and 3 chicom grenades on the Northwest side of the hill and also found a trail, where something was dragged away.

Delta Company has 1 US EM with an infected arm, and he will be evacuated to LZ Bronco after completion of Delta's CA.

Bravo Company spotted 4-5 NVA in khaki uniforms w/packs & weapons; engaged with small arms fire w/negative results . They also found a base camp at grid location BS766232, for 25 men. They found; 50 lbs of salt, 200 lbs of cooked rice and rice cooking pot, and 1 khaki uniform.

LZ San Juan Hill received approx 7-10 incoming rounds of either satchel charges or grenades, also 3-5 RPG rounds resulting in ; 1 US EM and from Delta Company, a  ground probe followed on the Southwest section of the LZ. 3 VC were observed with 2 rifles and 1 RPG. Flareship came on station at 0500 hrs. and 1 VC was spotted evading. The sappers were engaged with negative results. Dust off called at 0455 hrs. and completed 0522 hrs.

Warlords at grid location BS612459, found a thin trail of smoke coming from the trees, also spotted bundles of sticks, at grid BS623423, Warlords spotted 6 water buffalo, at grid BS621422, spotted log framework & well used trails, at grid BS628427, found a tunnel complex w/building material, at grid 624427, found cooking utensils, pots and pans, and foot prints. They expended some white phosphorus on the area, and at grid BS723428, they spotted cooking utensils & bunkers.

25 June 69 1600

Alpha Company's 1st & 2nd platoons at the day ambush at BS620447, engaged 2 VC with small arms fire at BS619441. The VC evaded down the trail toward Alpha Company's NDP at grid location BS622437. 1st platoon is searching the area,and found 5 packs containing 189 chicom grenades and 2 bangalore torpedo's, 1 NVA helmet, 5 NVA ponchos, 1 NVA poncho liner, 1 mosquito net, and 5 lbs of rice.

Late Entry;  At 2010 hrs Alpha Company's LP had 2 trip flares ignite simultaneously. They fired claymores & called in Arty for illumination and checked out area. Results; 2 NVA packs CIA, 2 NVA KIA, 1 AK-47 serial # Q6493, and while checking area element discovered blood trails.

Search of the captured NVA packs, revealed the following; 2 NVA poncho liners, 1 hammock, 1 rice bowl and spoon, 1 pistol belt and knife, 2 ruck sacks, 2 small bags of rice, 2 shirts, 2 trousers, 1 coil of rope, 2 rubber repair kits, 2 pairs of shorts, 2 pieces of plastic, 1 doctors smock and a small medical kit containing various pills.

Warlords at grid location BS635355, found 5 tunnels heavily sand bagged and concrete, Camouflaged hooch was destroyed. At grid location BS628349 found fresh tunnels.

Alpha Company at grid location BS619443, made contact with 4 NVA. Results; 1 NVA KIA. NVA had a pack with documents & binoculars. Alpha Company also found a heavy blood trail.

Late Entry; At 12oo hrs at grid location BS622437, engaged with 3NVA with small arms fire. With results: blood trails, 1 pistol belt with/canteen, NVA had weapons, packs and evaded to the Northeast.

Recon platoon engaged 1 NVA of 25 years in green unicorn shirt & shorts, and carrying a bag containing plastic, rice and 2 82mm mortar rounds. Results; 1 NVA KIA, 2 82mm mortar rounds.

Charlie Company at grid location BS685457, found 5 hooches, 5 bunkers w/overhead cover, 1 empty ruck sack and 25 rounds of AK-47 ammo.

Late Entry; At 0750hrs Bravo Company at grid location BS682448, was ambushed and were hit by a command detonated mine followed by small arms fire, resulting in: 1 US KIA & 3 US WHA. Dust off called at 0750 hrs. and completed at 0843 hrs. KHA extracted at 1200 hrs.

Alpha Company on LZ San Juan Hill requested a dust off for 1 US EM from Alpha Company with a temperature of 104.8 and malaria is suspected. Dust off is called at 1825 hrs.

Bravo Company received 1 chicom grenade in their perimeter, resulting in; 1 US WHA with frag wounds in the chest. Dust off called in at 2145 hrs and completed at 2247 hrs.

Gunships requested along with the dust off. Bravo Company reported gunships came within 50-70 meters of the perimeter on the 1st pass, resulting in talk and yelling by NVA. Kit Carson Scout reported NVA were yelling for their medics of which there were 2. He also estimated their strength at 35.

LRRP Team (NEVADA) at grid location BS639346 found a base camp platoon size containing 6 bunkers, 3 hooches, 1 storage hooch, 1 POW w/clothing. Also found a trail running East-West and not visible from the air.

LRRP Team (NEVADA) at grid location BS639346, found a rocket launcher device made from illumination canister. Also spotted receiving antennas and indication is that enemy has some type of communications set up in the area.

LRRP Team (NEVADA) at grid location BS645346, found an old living area with many well used trails, going into a valley at grid location BS645344. They found 1 large trail going up to grid location BS638341, The trail is completely hidden from the air and it leads to the base camp at grid BS637344. Inside the base camp area there were 3 hooches, 1 large bunker, 2 tunnels, 2 2 man fighting positions, 1 storage hooch, illumination canisters rigged up to be possible 120mm rocket launcher. They took 20 photos of the base camp.

Delta Company at grid location BS604454, found 1 rest station, that consisted of 6 bunkers, 1/2  dozen cans, clothing  and garbage which seen to be at least one week old. Kit Carson Scout indicates that 80-100 had this area recently. Negative other findings except small dead end trails.

Late Entry; At 1745 hrs. LRRP Team (NEVADA) was extracted from grid location BS636346 to LZ San Juan Hill and departed for LZ Bronco.

30 June 69 1100

Air Force FAC (HELIX 31) conducted an air strike at grid location BS661463 and observed 3 large secondary explosions. At BS662463 they spotted bunkers and a foot bridge across the stream.

30 June 69 1215

4.2 mortar platoon on San Juan Hill had a hang round in the mortar tube, when a attempt was made to get it out, the charges went off. Results; 2 US EM's WHA from Echo Company. Dust off requested at 1230 hrs and completed at 1245 hrs.

At grid location BS673317, small base camp with/6 bunkers and 4-5 lookout posts. At the grid location BS675368 base camp w/20 sleeping bunkers & a large CP bunker with concertina wire.
